报告人简介:
Johannes Orphal is Full Professor of Physics and Director of the Institute for Meteorology and Climate Research (IMK) at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Germany. Since 2012, he is the Scientific Spokesman of the National Programme “Atmosphere and Climate” in Germany. He has been working as scientific expert for space agencies (DLR, ESA, EUMETSAT, and NASA), and he is member of the Science Advisory Committee for the European Center for Medium-Range Weather Forecast (ECMWF). From 2004 to 2009 he was Vice-Chair of COSPAR Commission A1 (“Atmosphere including Meteorology and Climate”. Since, 2009, he is member of the International Radiation Commission (IRC).
After studying Physics at Humboldt University (Berlin, Germany), Johannes Orphal graduated in 1995 as “Docteur en Sciences” at University of Paris-Sud (Orsay, France). From 1995 to 1999, he worked as postdoctoral scientist at the University of Bremen (Germany) for the GOME and SCIAMACHY satellite projects. In 1999, he was selected CNRS scientist in Orsay (France), and in 2006 he became Professor of Physics at University of Paris-Est (Creteil, France). He was appointed at KIT Karlsruhe (Germany) in 2009, where he is also member of the KIT Senate.
Prof. Orphal has published more than 190 scientific papers, of which over 130 are on ISI Web of Science (about 5000 citations). His principal scientific expertise is in the field of molecular spectroscopy and optics applied to atmospheric remote-sensing. He is scientific advisor and co-author of the international HITRAN spectroscopy database.
